Donald Trump's supporter Scottie Nell Hughes, who on numerous occasions has advocated for the Republican hopeful and business mogul on cable news shows, told CNN on Sunday, April 3, that she wasn't happy about her portrayal by American actress, voice actress, and comedian, Cecily Strong on the April 2 episode of Saturday Night Live.
"First of all, I looked at the TV camera and went, 'Oh, my God, I have roots,'" Hughes joked on the network. "I mean, that look was so 2015, SNL."

Hughes then went on to bare her soul about how she felt by the portrayal. During the sketch, the 32-year-old Illnois native portrayed Hughes, while Kate McKinnon did a spot-on impression of CNN broadcast journalist who also doubles as the co-anchor of At This Hour with Berman and Bolduan, Kate Bolduan. At one point, Strong, as Hughes, quipped: "As a woman, I like Donald Trump. But as a full-blown nut job, I freaking love him."
"Talk about the ultimate shaming, the ultimate sexism," Hughes reflected to CNN. "What does SNL want me to do? Be barefoot and pregnant, or maybe just talk about parenting issues? You know, I am a woman. I am a mother. I'm a wife. I'm a small business owner, and I'm out there, and I'm willing to get involved in the process, and I try to be respectful to people … just because you don't like the guy that I speak favorably of, you know, they're obviously going to attack."
"The good news is I have a great sense of humor," Hughes said on Sunday, April 3, adding that it was "an honor" to be portrayed by Cecily.
She told The Blaze in a more recent interview that the issue was with SNL's writers, who have historically poked fun at conservative candidates (most memorably, Tina Fey's impression of Sarah Palin). Hughes was less subtle about her portrayal on SNL during her second interview.
“Tears have been shed," she told The Blaze. “I’m a little shaken after this. Those who know me know that I’m actually a very insecure person. I read every tweet.”
