A 28-Year-Old Student-Pastor Jailed For Stealing Tomatoes, Electrical Appliances And Noodles In Osogbo

An Osogbo based Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a student-pastor to three years imprisonment for burglary.

Mr. Olusola Aluko who is the magistrate at the Osun state court, in his judgment, stated that the accused should be kept behind bars due to the severity of his offence.

Fagboyinbo Abiodun who is the prosecutor, Insp, had earlier told the court that the convict, whose birth name is Akintunde Olatunde, committed the shameful offence on Friday, June 10, at about 5:00 p.m., in Omobolanle area of Osogbo.

Abiodun said the convict colluded with others now at large to break into the apartments and shops in the neighborhood where they stole some household and perishable items.

They carted away with soup ingredients like pepper, tomatoes, palm oil valued N2,900.Cartons of noodles were also not spared.

The suspect also broke into the house of one Afolabi Temitayo and carted away with his electrical appliances such as- television, antenna said to value at N1,500 and a bedroom fridge.

He said the accused was a student-pastor at one of the prayer ministries in Osun state capital.

According to Abiodun, the offence is a contravention Sections 516, 413, 390, 411 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The convict who had no legal representation pleaded guilty to the 12-count charge preferred against him when his case was called
